THE GREAT ESCAPE

Living in a jailed cell

That is your home.

Living without necessities,

Paper towels, dish soap, gallon zip lock bags, TP.

Walking outside with a mask,

Is it a choice?

We still have freedom, but it’s getting close

To government control.

To tell you when you can go out,

And when you can stroll.

In the parks, the restrooms closed,

Cannot be outside until the government says so.

Can we live another day?

Or be jailed in our rooms, our houses, our apartments, our homes

Is this living?

We need an Escape.

This country needs some humor, some task, something to do,

So we don’t feel so alone,

So we can do what we want to do,

So we can be free like every other day, and

Years past. Living in America, social dinners,

Restaurants, sports, and theater… we did all of this,

We had choices, can we choose today?

I had to say no to social plans today,

Let’s make music, virtually…

This Corona Virus has taken our Liberty.

Stay home, on your couch,

See what the world’s like inside, not out.

Let’s make a Great Escape!
